About Monday Night Big Band

Monday Night Big Band ( MNBB ) from Malmö, Sweden was founded in 1988 by the jazzmusician and composer Jörgen Nilsson. The band has since then performed over 600 times. Tours has been made to Denmark, France, Norway, Italy and USA. In 1996, the MNBB played at the legendary jazzclub ”Village Vanguard” in New York. The band also played at Carnegie Hall in 2000 together with other famous swedish jazzmusicians during a tour called ”Swedish Jazz Salutes USA”.

Mainly the band is known for it´s intepretation of the music and charts of Thad Jones, but it also plays music by Michael Abene, Bob Brookmeyer, Bob Mintzer, Rob McConell among others, and they also play music of swedish arrangers/composers. MNBB plays every last Monday of the month at a pub in Malmö called Mattsons.
